"But wait, there's more!" as the televised pitchmen say.
Those same hoplophobe and victim disarmers who demand that you surrender your AR-15- and your AK-47-style rifles so that they can have their momentary "warm fuzzy" that they "got something done" and "made a difference" their sock puppets in the New York State Legislature want New Yorkers that aren't Political Classholes or in the service of same to surrender any privately-owned body armor in their possession:

Naturally, we can't forget Mike McNulty's Waco: The Rules of Engagement[1]
and McNulty's follow-up film, Waco: A New Revelation[2]
Today we remember that on Monday, 19 April 1993, the Clinton Administration was so concerned about child welfare that they were willing to kill 27 kids by asphyxiation, incineration, and automatic-weapons fire to get at three adults accused of tax and paperwork violations.

One-sided Shootout at Coronado Mall!
More "gun violence" at an Albuquerque mall on Thursday, 31 March 2022, as reported by the Albuquerque Journal, and reposted by the Journal to Facebook[1]
Five teens accused of beating at Coronado Center, by Matthew Reisen, Journal Staff Writer by Matthew Reisen, Journal Staff Writer
At least this time, no one seems to have been injured or killed as a result of shots fired.
Meanwhile, there have been several firearm-related homicides (involving shots fired at the victims) at other locations around Albuquerque in the Downtown area, for example.
"Rbj Benjamin" posted a comment
Where’s our concealed carriers when you need them?
To which I replied
Concealed carry is not permitted on the property, per Coronado Center policy.
Blame Coronado for this one with their "No weapons allowed on site" policy, not concealed-carriers for their "failure" to be first responders to this incident.
And then there's my follow-up comment
So when Ross and Morales were allegedly pistol-whipping the Fuddruckers employees, should that be considered "gun violence" (firearm(s) were involved) or "blunt-object violence" (no shots were fired at that time) ?
ONCE AGAIN, we see just how "effective" this sort of "No weapons allowed" policy is (it is NOT effective, for those too dense to understand sarcasm) in stopping firearm-related crime.
As for the "gun free" status of Coronado (and Winrock, Cottonwood, etc.), if someone is injured or killed by a criminal there, and that injury or death could have been prevented had the victim been armed, I hope the victim or their survivor(s) sue the property owners into non-existence.
Something not yet brought up: Ross and Morales are both under the age of 21. This means their mere possession of handguns was a federal offense. ANOTHER failure of the victim disarmament statutes.
Apparently, I made a mistake per 18 U.S.C. § 922(x)(2)[2], Ross was legal in possessing a handgun.
Still, Ross' alleged pistol-whipping of the Fuddruckers staff was definitely NOT legal, and would probably constitute battery, if not aggravated battery
30-3-4. Battery.
Battery is the unlawful, intentional touching or application of force to the person of another, when done in a rude, insolent or angry manner.
Whoever commits battery is guilty of a petty misdemeanor.
30-3-5. Aggravated battery.
- Aggravated battery consists of the unlawful touching or application of force to the person of another with intent to injure that person or another.
- Whoever commits aggravated battery, inflicting an injury to the person which is not likely to cause death or great bodily harm, but does cause painful temporary disfigurement or temporary loss or impairment of the functions of any member or organ of the body, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
- Whoever commits aggravated battery inflicting great bodily harm or does so with a deadly weapon or does so in any manner whereby great bodily harm or death can be inflicted is guilty of a third degree felony.
What's the takeaway here?
The lessons to be learned from this incident are as follows:
FIRST, victim disarmament edicts, whether they are in the form of public-sector statutes and regulations, or a private-sector "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" policy, don't do much of anything to deter violent criminals from committing crimes.
If anything, they do the exact opposite they make it easier for the criminals to victimize others.
Think of them as a sort of "workplace safety" code for the bad guys, making what are supposed to be "safe spaces" for shoppers and tourists into a happy hunting ground for the crooks.
As the saying goes, "When seconds count, the cops are minutes away."
But . . . but . . . what about the "NO WEAPONS ALLOWED" sign? Surely, those intent on committing assault, battery, robbery, burglary, and possibly murder will see that sign, and then leave their guns in the car, right?
Well, you see, the criminal element always seems to find that massive loophole in all of the various victim-disarmament schemes called "breaking the law."
If they're willing to kill you over pocket change, what makes you think that they're going to obey your hoplophobic prohibitionary edicts?
As the saying goes, "When seconds count, the cops are minutes away."
And the reality of it all is this: You are your own best defender. Sure, you can contract the task out to someone else, but that person wants to go home to their family, too. That person will put their own personal safety above yours, if it comes down to it.

Book Review -- Faith Seeking Freedom: Libertarian Christian Answers to Tough Questions
BOOK REVIEW Faith Seeking Freedom: Libertarian Christian Answers to Tough Questions
129 pages, by Dr. Norman Horn, Doug Stuart, Kerry Baldwin, and Dick Clark
FULL DISCLOSURES:
- Kerry Baldwin has been a Facebook friend for several years now.
- I don't profess to be a Christian of any denomination or sect or whatever. Organized religion and I simply don't do well together.
With those out of the way . . . .
Faith Seeking Freedom is easy reading, in that the authors don't try to cram you chock-full of data and information and jargon, such that you would feel overwhelmed by it all.
When the authors cite Biblical content, they put the citation right there in the same paragraph as the point that they're making, so you don't have to keep flipping back and forth to the end of the chapter or the end of the book. This is probably for the best where electronic versions are concerned. Also, for those inclined to have a Bible nearby to check on the authors, it's right there where you can compare and contrast the authors' points against the Bible verse(s) itself.
The authors don't attempt to take sides where the big divisions of libertarian thought occur, such as the minarchy vs. anarchy debate, or whether or not to be involved in the LP, with the exception of the abortion issue.
SPECIFIC POINTS
[Page numbers cited here are what listed is on the particular page. The actual pages on the PDF version that I used for this review will be that number, plus 10 pages.]
Chapter 2 (The Libertarian Basics, pp. 23-34) gives the reader a decent summary of the Non-Aggression Principle and how it applies to everyday life.
p. 26, part of the answer to Question #13 (How do libertarian Christians account for people who violate the non-aggression principle (NAP)?) takes on the minarchy vs. anarchy question rather well the authors explain both sides without explicitly favoring one side or the other. (Disclosure: I personally lean towards the anarcho-capitalist side.)
p.39, Question #25 (Do libertarians believe any and every government is illegitimate?) also tackles the minarchy vs. anarchy adroitly, explaining both sides without favoring one or the other.
pp. 67-68 give a succinct and principled response to the "What about roads?" shibboleth.
OK, enough spoilers.
Do me a favor Do yourself a favor Go and get a copy and read it for yourself.
SUMMARY
Faith Seeking Freedom is an easy-to-read, principled guide for Christians who are seeking to understand libertarianism, on par with Inclined to Liberty by Louis Carabini, The Law by Frederic Bastiat, or Down With Power by L. Neil Smith.
Go get a copy, read it, then tell your friends and family.

Want Total Freedom and No Responsibility? Be a Democrat!
Apparently, being a Democrat makes you immune to the Beer Bug. Who knew?
This immunity doesn't seem to discriminate between the lefty-fascist "progressive" kind, the "conservative" or "libertarian" kind or the Republican-wannabe Establishment kind.
The DNC's nominee for First Crook, Creepy Joe, is a prime example of the last kind.

In that picture, it's plainly obvious that this is a gathering of more than five [5] people, and that they do not appear to be practicing any "social distancing" protocols.
As the TV pitchmen say, "But wait, there's more!
In this second picture, it's plain to see that not only are they not "social distancing," but they aren't wearing the idiotic masks that they insist that the rest of us wear any time that we step outside of our homes.

When a lone nut job maniac goes on a mass shooting, he represents all gun owners (even if his manifesto is all pro gun control). Even if he's a raving left winger or has no coherent philosophy at all, he represents all republicans/Christians/white men/whatever group the left has a hate boner for this week. And the existence of this lone nut maniac irreparably taints half the population of America with guilt, even if they have nothing in common with him at all.
However, if somebody wearing a hoody and a ski mask, looting, burning shit, while chanting fuck the police and flying the hammer and sickle, gets caught on video beating someone with a baseball bat... HOW DARE YOU ASSUME THEY ARE ANTIFA?!? HE DOES NOT HAVE AN ANTIFA NAME TAG ON! WHERE IS HIS ANTIFA ID CARD? HOW DARE YOU SMEAR THESE INNOCENT MOSTLY PEACEFUL PEOPLE WITH THE ACTIONS OF A FEW BAD APPLES?!?
This may sound crazy, but just remember. If you are on the right you share collective guilt for every bad thing which has ever happened, even if it was done by people on the left. And if you are on the left, you are free from sin because you Care Harder.
On the individual level, if you are on the right, you are responsible for things that other people's ancestors did 200 years ago. But if you are on the left, you aren't responsible for what you are doing right now.
Also see this video clip, where the guy holding the gun on the woman in the car says (no way that I could have made this up)
"I am not a cop, I will fucking shoot you. I'm a Democrat. I can shoot you because Democrats get away with everything."

Quote of the Day for Thursday, 21 January 2016
If the Constitution of the United States were written based on current policies and attitudes of those who govern us, its preamble would probably be something like this:
WE THE AUTHORITIES, of the State of America, in order to form the basis for societal perfection, establish social justice, insure domestic obedience, provide for the global defense, promote the welfare of special interests, and secure the bondage of national debt from ourselves to our posterity, do mandate and impose these executive orders upon the people of the Nation, formerly known as the United States of America.

2012 Hero Update -- It sounds like 2012 NMBC HERO Andy Nunez has plans for improving our state and is making an important announcement TODAY [August 6]. Former State Representative and Mayor of Hatch, will hold a press conference at the Secretary of State's office in Santa Fe today, August 6th, 2013 at 10:00 am. According to information out yesterday, Mr. Nunez will officially change his voter registration and then make an announcement about his future endeavors on behalf of this great state.
The NMBC knows Mr. Nunez well, a native New Mexican who has always been dedicated to the well-being of our state. He served as a state representative from 2001 through 2012 and is currently serving as the Mayor of Hatch. We can't wait to see what his plans are!
-------- Original Message Ends --------
Since 2011, Nuñez has been registered as an "Independent" (officially known as "Decline To State" or "DTS" in New Mexico) since dropping out of the Jackass Clique.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 6 August 2013), Nuñez announced that he's now a Republican in order to seek a return to the State House seat he once held as a Democrat and an "Independent." See here for the details –
http://watchdog.org/99493/nm-politician-goes-from-democrat-to-independent-to-republican/
So he's joining the Republicans after the McCleskey Clique of the NMGOP stabbed him in the back in the 2012 elections – from the above article:
Despite consistently voting with Republicans and carrying a controversial bill aimed at repealing the state law granting driver's licenses to undocumented workers, Nuñez saw a political action committee of Republican Gov. Susana Martinez send out mailers against him, Nuñez said.
The question for those who support the ideals of free-market economics, Constitutionally-limited government, individual rights and public-sector fiscal restraint is this:
Now that Nuñez is in the GOP camp, will he bend his knee to accept the leash and yoke from the McCleskey Clique?
Will Nuñez sign off on the Bush / McCain / Romney version of Big Government Keynesianism when McCleskey et al deem doing so to be politically expedient?
Will Nuñez become a rural version of Albuquerque's Richard Berry, stumping for big, expensive projects like the APS West Side stadium and the 50-mile bike path around Albuquerque?
That IS what seems to be necessary to get into the good graces of the GOP party-archs headed up by John Billingsley. As it seemed to be during the reigns of Harvey Yates, Monty Newman, etc., etc.
For example, Susana Martinez has basically signed off on ObamaCare, creating a "state-level health-care exchange" as mandated by Obama's copy-and-paste job from RomneyCare in Massachusetts. It was initially billed as a website where consumers could compare health care plans – sort of a medical version of Priceline.com (or Pricewatch.com) or Travelocity. So why exactly does such a site require a thirteen-member Board of Directors?
And then she supported expanding Medicare, as called for in ObamaCare.
What gives?
Those who put the principles of free-market economics, Constitutionally-limited government, individual rights and public-sector fiscal restraint above any sort of partisan affiliation want to know.
Another question for Billingsley and McCleskey:
Why should we care about your Democrat-wannabe candidates who profess to support the above-mentioned principles during election seasons, then blow off those same principles after getting elected?
I cite both of the Bush Presidents, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Heather Wilson and Rudy Giuliani as examples here.
I prefer an up-front opponent than a back-stabber professing friendship any day of the week.

About the CPB, Republicans and Statism

FYI: In addition to foundation money, tax dollars are also given to the CPB which runs PBS stations around the nation. The taxpayer is not asked whether he wishes to contribute. That should be stopped and we have the right to demand it.
Starting in 1994, the Republicans have been promising to do exactly this – defund the Corporation for Public Broadcasting – during most if not all election seasons.
From 1994 to 2007, the Republicans held majorities in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.
Yet the CPB never lost a penny in funding.
Thus, either the Republicans are so incompetent that they are unable to organize enough votes to defund the CPB while they hold legislative majorities . . .
OR
There are enough Republicans for whom this particular issue is nothing more than PR copy for their re-election campaigns – "red meat for the conservatives," soon to be forgotten after getting another term. Then when CPB's budget comes up for renewal, they find "reasons" to vote in favor of it.
I disagree that "we have no voice." We have plenty of voices. And we do have access to the media.
In these days of Blogspot, Wordpress and YouTube, media access for the common citizen keeps getting easier and easier.
In my judgement the causes of the Republican point of view not being disseminated merits an essay.
What exactly is the "Republican point of view" ?
There seems to be a misconception out there in GOP circles that the Republican Party is about free markets, Constitutionally-limited government, individual rights and public sector fiscal restraint.
Given the track records of John McCain, George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Richard Nixon, that can hardly be true. The federal government never shrunk much if any in terms on expense or intrusiveness under any of the administrations of the above presidents.
Even under "The Gipper" Ronald Reagan, the GOP's patron saint of the 20th Century, the expense and intrusiveness of Washington DC expanded greatly. Reagan talked a decent game, but never really walked the walk.
Nor did President-wannabe Romney shrink government at the state level while he was Governor of Massachusetts.
While Senator-wannabe Heather Wilson was in the U.S. House as a "representative" for New Mexico's 1st District, she enthusiastically supported the single biggest expansion of the welfare state in the "Oughts" of the 21st Century – Medicare Part D, signed into "law" by George W. Bush in 2003.
So why exactly should people who DO care about free markets, Constitutionally-limited government, individual rights and public sector fiscal restraint care in the slightest about the "Republican point of view" ?
He made his money through valuable capitalist methods: individual rights of privately owned property, voluntary trade, limited government and free markets. But in his basic premises he is wedded to the welfare state, which means the principle of unlimited government. In other words: statism.
I know the original comment was about Bill Gates, but this was and is also true of Mittens Romney, the GOP's 2012 presidential offering.
