KUDOS TO the Santa Fe County Commission for passing on the purchase of AR-15 weapons for the Santa Fe sheriff's department SWAT officers. . . . Instead of just waiting, as Sheriff Mendoza seems inclined to do because of "the current climate in the nation," I recommend the funds be redirected to a buyback and destruction of this type of weapon from civilians who have no legitimate need for them.
